THIS IS THE NOTICE PHOTODEX POSTED
What You Need to Know
Photodex Corporation is closing on January 31, 2020. After this date, you will no longer be able to access the Photodex website, technical support, or online services.
ProShow Software
You can continue to use ProShow desktop software indefinitely. You will still be able to install, activate, and use ProShow Gold and ProShow Producer. Services within ProShow that rely on Photodex servers will cease to function on January 31, 2020. This includes the music library and downloadable extras.
Effects Packs
You can continue to use any effect packs that you have purchased. You can download your effects packs from the Photodex website up until January 31, 2020.
Technical Support
Technical support via email will not be available after January 31, 2020. After this date, no support will be available for Photodex products.
Upgrades and Purchases
If you do not already own the latest version of ProShow, you may upgrade at any time before January 31, 2020 through the Photodex website. After that date, you will no longer be able to purchase an upgrade. You may continue to use your previous version indefinitely.
Registration Keys
If you plan to reinstall ProShow after January 31, 2020 you will need your product registration keys. These were emailed to you when you originally purchased ProShow. If you need another copy for your records, you can use the online form to retrieve a copy of your registration keys. Don't wait... you can only retrieve your registration keys until January 31, 2020.
Downloads and Installers
You will not be able to download the installer for ProShow after January 31, 2020. We strongly encourage all users to download and save the installer for their version of ProShow. You will need to save a copy of the installer if you plan to reinstall ProShow at a later date.
Note from Dixie: ❝The information below is from the people who run the ProShow & Photopia support group which they posted and which may or may not be of assistance to anyone having difficulties with getting their ProShow Producer application running after migrating to a new computer or a computer crash. If all else fails and you don't want to go down the subscription based Photopia you are most welcome to download the final version of ProShow Producer 9 from my website for FREE.❞
INFORMATION SUPPLIED ON THE PROSHOW & PHOTOPIA SUPPORT GROUP
New and Current Members, read all instructions for solutions to the key activation and publishing issues.
Photodex has closed their company on January 31, 2020, and changed their servers on May 31, 2020. This has affected some functionalities and features in ProShow. If you are having issues with the program, follow these instructions:
Try entering in your Registration Key first under the Help tab. If an error notification persists, then uninstall ProShow, completely remove the ProShow installation folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Photodex) and then reinstall into a new folder path, for example - C:\Program Files (x86)\Photodex\ProShow Producer 9.0. Turn your computer completely off, then on, disable the Windows/Mac firewall and antivirus program, reinstall ProShow, then re-enter your Registration Key. This should force the program to check back with the activation server.
Important: make sure to save all of your shows and their files, add-ons such as effects/styles/transitions packages, free extra downloads, self-made styles, to a different folder or external drive. An uninstall will delete them all from the C drive. Note: If you have backgrounds downloaded, or any other custom material that is usually found in the installation folder, then you should copy this content to another place before deleting the installation folder so that you can move it back after this process.
After Photodex transferred their data to a new server in 2020, ProShow has not been functioning properly for many users, including Photodex's new activation server's inability to communicate with user's registry entries. Some user's data relating to registration may not have moved correctly or completely to Photodex's server or are lost altogether. The case that some users are able to reactivate ProShow since the server change, whether on a new computer or operating system or not, has no relevance nor impact on cases of users who are unable to.
Registration Key retrieval: go into the Windows registry by navigating the following path (right click on windows, run, then type regedit). This would take you to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Photodex\ProShow\
license\install\25 (25 for Producer, 21 for Gold). Your Registration Key should be displayed under "Data".
If your access with ProShow or saved your work through their web option before Photodex closed, then your shows on their server are no longer retrievable. The Music Library is no longer accessible either, although it is still available for some users but not for most.
If you do not have the Installer for Gold, you can download it here, as Mona Wiener has generously provided for everyone:
ProShow Gold click here
For additional purchased effects, styles, and transitions packs, their installers are no longer available to be downloaded, even if you still have registration keys.
Note from Dixie: ❝You can download all the style packs and transitions from my website for FREE. They are all registered and do not require and registration key to install.❞
Note from Dixie: ❝The ProShow and Photopia support group states the following below, BUT you CAN select the "Video for Web, Devices and Computers" so you can get to the options, you just CANNOT select "Web" when the next options screen shows up because the options of Facebook, YouTube, etc, are no longer available as this used to happen via the Photodex servers which no longer exist. If you want to post to social media platforms you just need to create the video file (mp4) yourself then upload it from your own computer.❞
Information continued from ProShow & Photopia support group
Publishing: under the Publish tab, (1) Select "For Computers" (do NOT select the "Video For Web, Devices and Computers" or "Publish Show". It may not work), (2) Select "Custom Video File", (3) In Type, select "HD" or "PC". Again, do NOT select "Video For Web..." because this will link to Photodex's servers, which is being transitioned and is the reason for the notices on the screen. Publishing directly to YouTube or other sites is not functional now for most users, so publish your shows to your computer or external drive, then upload them to YouTube, etc...
Note from Dixie: This is what I do -
Publish Menu
- Publish Show
- Video Files
- Click Video File
- Standard Video Format (MPEG-4 H.264)
- Choose MPEG-4
- Highest Quality is 1080p (Full HD)
- 60fps (frames per second) High Quality
I choose the highest quality 1080p (Full HD) as this is the best quality if you are going to post the video to YouTube. I also choose 60fps (frames per second) High Quality. YouTube will automatically render all qualities so the user viewing a video on YouTube can select the quality as some computers and devices may be old and cannot play the higher quality video file without lagging. Facebook doesn't have that choice, they reduce the quality no matter what so better to upload best quality.
New FREE slides and shows are on my ProShow Producer group (button top left). Here on my site you'll find a variety of resources and ❝safe❞ links. Where possible I have credited the creator. There are a myriad of links on the net to these resources, but mostly all are NOT safe. There can be many page directs to porn or undesirable sites and download buttons go to a page that try and sell you ❝premium❞ download time to get the file or you end up on an advertising page where you are asked to allow dubious notifications and other suspect media. More worryingly, clicking on something can download a rogue program onto your computer without your knowledge.
You may download the final version of ProShow Producer Blue-ray/DVD/CD Version: 9.0.3797 which includes ProShow Presenter Version: 9.0.3797 plus the styles packs, the transition packs, and video tutorials for FREE. All files are stored on my Google Drive. There are NO annoying ❝page redirects❞ or ❝cookies❞ or ❝pop ups❞ on my site. My site is hosted on my private SSL-Secure web server and is ❝not a warez site❞ so you can feel safe when browsing. You can be assured there are NO ❝hidden❞ redirect links to any undesirable sites. I've also included some extra bits as well.
I will add assorted items from time to time so feel free to check back often. Please don't ❝hotlink❞ to anything on my site as I will be updating the links regularly to avoid that situation arising. The ❝password❞ for all downloads that require a password is overthemoonwithproshow all in lower case letters.
